Cancer Genetics SIG Webinar
Join us for the Cancer Genetics SIG Webinar, MET Exon 14 Skipping: From In Silico Prediction to RNA-based Conclusion, presented by Dr Dan Chen, Medical Scientist in the Department of Medical Genomics, Institute of Precision Medicine and Bioinformatics at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
The session will be held on Thursday, 23rd July 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00pm AEST.
Presenter: Dr Dan Chen, the Department of Medical Genomics, Institute of Precision Medicine and Bioinformatics, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
Abstract: This talk will focus on MET exon 14 skipping as an important therapeutic target in non-small cell lung cancer, and the challenges in accurately predicting splicing impact and clinical outcomes, which are complicated by the diversity of DNA variants affecting splice sites. These challenges will be illustrated through specific DNA variant examples identified by DNA-based next-generation sequencing (NGS), with confirmation performed using RNA-based NGS and/or a newly developed droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) assay.
Biography: Dan Chen is a Hospital Scientist in the Somatic Cancer Biomarker Testing team within the Department of Medical Genomics at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has extensive research and clinical diagnostic experience in somatic mutation testing for solid tumours using high-throughput NGS and highly sensitive ddPCR assays.
