Hereditary Haematological Malignancy Consensus Meeting

You are invited to attend the Australia and New Zealand Hereditary Haematological Malignancy Consensus Meeting via a virtual workshop.

All HGSA members and non-members are invited to attend Australia and New Zealand Hereditary Haematological Malignancy Consensus Meetings

First virtual workshop date: Friday 5 May 2023 9am-1pm AEST

In partnership with the Cancer Genetics Special Interest Group of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia, we invite interested members to attend the first of a series of meetings with the aim of building consensus regarding the approach to identification and subsequent management of individuals with or at-risk of hereditary haematological malignancies in Australia and New Zealand. The first meeting is scheduled for Friday 5 May 2023 9am-1pm AEST via Zoom and if you are interested in attending, please register using the link below. If you are unfortunately unable to attend the initial meeting, you will still be able to attend subsequent meetings – this is a marathon, not a sprint!

As this area of medicine requires expert input from many different specialties, we are hoping to engage with relevant individuals based in Australia and New Zealand across these areas with experience or interest in hereditary haematological malignancies, including (but not limited to) clinical and cancer genetics, genetic counselling, haematology, oncology, transplant, molecular laboratory, and clinical ethics. We also encourage interest from centres across both Australia and New Zealand to ensure adequate representation across the region. We also recognise that there are groups already working to address these challenges locally – the goal is by facilitating this meeting we can streamline these processes and reduce the amount of double up work occurring across the region. Similar work is already underway in the UK, facilitated by the UK Cancer Genetics Group (https://www.ukcgg.org/information-education/ukcgg-consensus-meetings/)

If you have any questions about this endeavour, please contact Eliza Courtney ([email protected]).

We look forward to seeing you on Zoom!

Dr Helen Mar Fan (Clinical Geneticist, Genetic Health Queensland)
Dr Ashleigh Sullivan (Paediatric Oncologist, Queensland Children’s Hospital)
Eliza Courtney (Senior Genetic Counsellor, Children’s Cancer Institute and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick)
