Ethical issues in reproductive carrier screening

The next seminar in the Reproduction in Society Seminar Series is on 2 May. Dr Lisa Dive will present on Ethical issues in reproductive genetic carrier screening: Insights from Mackenzie’s Mission.

This seminar will provide an overview of some of the ethical issues that arise in the context of population-wide reproductive genetic carrier screening. Drawing primarily on the example of the Mackenzie’s Mission pilot study, some of the concerns with population genomics will be addressed, along with specific conceptual considerations that are important in carrier screening. Many of these issues will be relevant to other population applications of genomics.
