Clinical & Laboratory Diagnostic Genomics Course
May 1-28, 2023 (3 credits) $600

Online Lectures available from May 1 2023
In person, Genomic Case Analysis Workshops – 2 Days, 12-13 May 2023
Online, Genetic Counselling Workshop (10am – 1pm) 20 May 2023

The Clinical and Laboratory Diagnostic Genomics course comprises online self-paced lectures and face to face workshops. It is designed for people who are interested in gaining knowledge and understanding of the tools and methods required for the clinical genomic diagnostic process. Professionals who could benefit from the course include clinicians, scientists, allied health professionals, nurses and health professionals working in a clinical setting, as well as medical specialists and trainees, genetic counsellors, and researchers. Genomic data filtering and analysis will begin with straightforward scenarios and progress to more complex cases.

Course content includes introductory online lectures on genome structure, the basis of Mendelian mutations, variant analysis, and interpretation, genomic bioinformatic pipelines. Practical workshops in genomic analysis and related counselling issues will occur over three days.

The course will cover:

Genome and gene structure
Benign and pathogenic variation
Analysis and classification of variants (missense, nonsense, frameshift, splicing)
Analysis of Copy Number Variation from genomic data
Genomic filtering and bioinformatic pipeline analysis
Complex genetic counselling issues in a genomic setting

People with a wide range of experience are invited to attend. The workshop is based on real world cases and provides an opportunity to analyse human genome data in a clinical setting. Please see the attached link for more detailed information:
